Your first week is a free taster session and there is no joining fee. After that, rehearsals are £8 per week, paid at each rehearsal you attend. There is also a yearly subscription, which works out cheaper across the year. Barnsley Singers is a not-for-profit organisation, so any profit goes straight back into the choir: our events, the cost of running the choir, and its development.

Yes, at your second rehearsal. There’s no need to register before your first. We’ll ask you to fill in a short online or paper registration form. If you haven’t attended for a while, or have had a long break, we may ask you to register again.

Yes. Barnsley Singers is an adult choir, so members need to be 18 or over.

Performing is optional, though we encourage everyone to take part.

Smart, black, with a splash of red.

Our repertoire is mostly pop, jazz, folk and gospel, arranged for a full choir. You might learn a chart hit one term and a gospel number or a traditional folk song the next. We also take on pieces outside those styles from time to time, so there’s usually something new to get your teeth into.

Around 150 members. With no auditions, the choir is made up of people from all walks of life, and new members join throughout the year.

Barnsley Sixth Form College is accessible. There are several car parks around the college, and the council car parks are free after 18.00.
